Newcastle are advancing in talks to sign Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo and Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly on free transfers.

The defensive duo could both end up at St James’s Park this summer as talks progress despite rival interest from Tottenham.

Newcastle's defensive line has been hit hard by losing both key centre-back Sven Botman and club captain Jamaal Lascelles to major knee injuries last month.

Those setbacks have prompted manager Eddie Howe to actively seek reinforcements.

As first reported by Standard Sport, Adarabioyo informed Fulham last month that he won’t be renewing his contract in west London despite being offered terms to become one of the highest-paid players at Craven Cottage.

The 26-year-old is keen to take the next step in his career and has spoken to Newcastle, Tottenham, Liverpool and AC Milan about potential summer moves.

Despite agreeing to wait until the end of the season before sealing a transfer, Fulham boss Marco Silva has left him out of the last three matchday squads.

Adarabioyo didn't even make the bench for fixtures against Crystal Palace, Brentford or Manchester City after the club learned of his decision to leave.

The former Manchester City defender, signed for £2million in 2020, had played 18 of the last 20 Premier League matches beforehand, missing only two games due to a minor knock.

Bournemouth defender Kelly, 25, is also being targeted by a similar group of clubs, including Tottenham and AC Milan.
