Newcastle United have agreed a £55m deal to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford.
The two teams have reached a verbal agreement on the package, after Newcastle had seen multiple bids turned down for the 28-year-old.
Eddie Howe’s side have increased their offer, ahead of receiving a record-breaking £130m windfall for Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker is set to undergo a medical with Liverpool ahead of a British transfer record switch to Anfield.
Newcastle signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart in an £69m deal earlier this week, but wanted another striker signing after Callum Wilson’s exit this summer.
Wissa represents a Premier League experienced option and is set to sign, according to Fabrizio Romano, with a medical scheduled ahead of the 7pm deadline for business.
Earlier this week, Wissa released a statement imploring Brentford to let him leave. The DR Congo international expressed his desire to move and compete on the Champions League stage.
Last season, Wissa scored a career-high 19 goals in the Premier League. His 19 non-penalty goals matched both Isak and Erling Haaland, with only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (20) managing more in 2024/25.
