It ended Newcastle 3 Liverpool 3.
What a match!
Newcastle United twice leading, through Isak and then Gordon, only for Liverpool to twice come back.
Then when the sousers took a late lead, it looked all over.
Only for Fabian Schar to produce an incredible finish from what looked an all but impossible angle.
Looking at the individuals in black and white, interesting to get an independent perspective on how this played out.
‘Whoscored ratings use data from every single Premier League match, over 200 raw statistics included in the automated calculation of a player’s rating, weighted according to their influence within the game.
Every event of importance is taken into account, with a positive or negative effect on ratings weighted in relation to its area on the pitch and its outcome.’
Now whoscored have published their independent player ratings for this Newcastle 3 Liverpool 3 match:
As you can see, eight players who started the match received a rating of 7.0 or more.
With four Liverpool players and four for Newcastle United.
Mo Salah (8.9) getting man of the match but I thought by some distance, Alexander Isak (8.7) was the very best player on the pitch.
Gordon (8.0) also very good and rated next best for NUFC, then Bruno (7.5) third highest for Newcastle with a very good performance.
Fabian Schar (7.0) the other home player to get a 7.0 or higher rating.
