Omar Mugharbel, the CEO of the Saudi Professional League, has expressed a vision for the league that embraces the signing of superstar talent.

He believes that the prospect of adding high-profile players like Kylian Mbappe or Vinicius Jr to the Saudi League should not be dismissed, as the league has already achieved what many thought was impossible.

“The idea is to continue signing stars, and I believe that everything is possible. We have made the impossible possible. You never know what can happen.” he told El Espanol.

“I think we will continue with that same momentum in the future. So you never know what we can see in the next transfer market.

“I think having players of this quality, having teams developing and becoming more competitive really makes the Saudi Pro League a valid option for anyone, regardless of age.

“It won’t be surprising to see any name in the Saudi League. Honestly, this makes us very proud as a league and as a country. And it’s a key element for us to continue moving forward,” he noted.

Vinicius has already been linked

One notable example of Saudi’s ambition was revealed by Khaled Al-Issa, the director of Al-Ahli. He mentioned that Al-Ahli made significant efforts to acquire Vinicius Jr. from Real Madrid during the final days of the recent summer transfer window.

The club was prepared to present an offer that would set a new record, aiming to make Vinicius the highest-paid player in football history.

However, despite the aggressive pursuit, Al-Ahli faced a last-minute obstacle that ultimately led them to withdraw from negotiations.

This setback did not deter the club’s ambition, as there are strong indications that they will revisit the possibility of securing Vinicius next summer.

The willingness to invest heavily in top talent demonstrates the Saudi League’s strategy to attract world-class players and enhance its competitiveness.
