‘Never be another’ – Mbappé hails Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Euro 2024 clash | OneFootball

New Real Madrid signing Kylian Mbappé has on Thursday moved to reveal his admiration for club legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappé, and Ronaldo, are of course primed to lock horns on the international front on Friday night.

As much will come on the international front, when the former’s France face off with Portugal, for a place in the semi-finals of Euro 2024.

Speaking to the media in anticipation of the clash, it therefore came as little surprise when the name of his fellow attacker was put to Mbappé himself.

The 25-year-old is in line to pull on the famed colours of Real Madrid for the first time next season, no doubt hopeful of having even close to the same impact as was made by Ronaldo during his legendary spell in Spain’s capital.

And such exploits were evidently not at all lost on Mbappé, who on Thursday made use of the opportunity to lavish praise on his upcoming opponent:

“Cristiano Ronaldo is unique, an icon. He is someone who has inspired an entire generation. His CV speaks for itself. There will never be another player like him.”

After also revealing that he and CR7 remain in regular contact, though, Mbappé was keen to reiterate that:

“Respect to him but I hope we will go to the semi-final.”
