Denzel Dumfries admits that it “hasn’t been easy” to get past last weekend’s 5-0 loss against PSG in the Champions League final.

Speaking to reporters after the Neteherlands’ World Cup qualifying win over Finland yesterday, via FCInter1908, Dumfries admitted that he still wakes up at night wondering “what happened?”

Inter Milan did not just lose to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

The Nerazzurri made history, for all the wrong reasons. They fell to a 5-0 defeat, meaning that they lost the final by a wider margin than any other team in history.

In ninety minutes, Inter went from having a chance to crown their season with the biggest trophy in European club football to facing doubts and questions that were greater than ever.

Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries started against PSG. He had in fact been one of Inter’s outstanding players in the previous round against Barcelona.

Dumfries was asked if it was still difficult for him. And he replied “Yes, to be honest.”

“Sometimes you wake up suddenly,” the 29-year-old admitted. “And you ask yourself, ‘What really happened?'”

“So yes. It’s still difficult.”

“But we all work together obviously,” Dumfries continued.

As for whether Inter have gotten past that defeat, Dumfries said “No, absolutely not.”

“I have to admit that honestly. Then, the way it went was really unpleasant for us.”

Denzel Dumfries admitted that PSG “absolutely dominated the pitch.”

“It was an absolutely deserved win for PSG. You come into a match like that all together, ytou work hard. Everyone has the best intentions. And then simply nothing.”

“Unfortunately bad days happen,” the Dutchman reflected. “For everyone.”
