Napoli missed out on Karim Adeyemi in January, as the player didn’t want to transfer midseason, but they have stayed in touch with his entourage. They’ll make another attempt in the summer. The agreement with Borussia Dortmund was at a good point before the player decided to stay, Il Mattino reports (via OneFootball).
The Partenopei would have to spend €40/45M for the German attacker, but money won’t be an issue in the next window. They didn’t reinvest the Khvicha Kvaratskhelia windfall and fully expect to sell Victor Osimhen, giving them plenty of financial ammo.
If Napoli can’t convince Adeyemi, Edon Zhegrova would be the fallback plan. They probably won’t revisit Alejandro Garnacho, as there were some issues with the wages in that case. The Lille star recently announced that he wouldn’t renew his contract, which runs until 2026.
The Azzurri will seek a real alternative to Romelu Lukaku. They are monitoring Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who aren’t exactly thriving at Manchester United. One of the two could be axed if the Red Devils landed a top-flight marksman. Antonio Conte has been watching the growth of Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca, who could become an option.
It’d be a little surprising if he changed his mind, as he had reservations about the destination besides the timing of the transfer. They’ll have to sign a host of players to have proper depth next year. In the end, they’ll have to pick and choose between making one or two coups or spreading the wealth across a few solid signings.
