Napoli are pushing to beat Inter Milan and Juventus to the signing of striker Jonathan David on a free transfer.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Partenopei will soon meet with the Canadian’s agents.
Jonathan David will certainly be one of the major free transfer opportunities of the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old’s contract with Lille runs out at the end of next month.
And there has been no shortage of clubs to show an interest in David’s signature.

Inter Milan are certainly one of the clubs with the strongest interest in David’s signature.
After all, the Nerazzurri are hardly strangers to big name free transfer signings.
Meanwhile, Inter’s Derby d’Italia rivals Juventus also want to bring David to Serie A.
Meanwhile, the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich have also been in contact with the Canadian international’s agents.
However, it is not just Inter and Juventus who want to bring Jonathan David to Serie A.
According to the Gazzetta, David is the top target in attack for Napoli.
The Partenopei are also eyeing up the likes of Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca, Parma’s Ange-Yoan Bonny, and Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund.
However, the priority for Napoli would be to try and sign David.
A move for the 25-year-old would not be easy. The high wages that he is demanding, and in particular the agent commissions involved, would be a major obstacle.
However, Napoli will make every effort to do the deal.
According to the Gazzetta, David’s representatives will meet with Napoli soon, to clarify whether there would be a chance of the deal happening.
