Napoli coach Antonio Conte believes it would be “crazy” for Napoli not to believe they can win the Serie A title race against Inter Milan.

The Partenopei coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s 2-1 win over AC Milan.

Inter Milan and Napoli went into the international break as the two teams at the top of the Serie A table.

And after the first weekend back from the break, that remains the case.

The Nerazzurri won their first match back from the break against Udinese 2-1. And the Partenopei won theirs against AC Milan, by the same scoreline.

So it is still the case that just three points separate the two teams at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Atalanta lost to Fiorentina, falling further back and likely out of the title race altogether.

At the moment, Inter Milan do have the advantage in the title race.

However, it is a slender one indeed.

There are eight matches to go. And any slip up from the Nerazzurri could be enough for Napoli to regain the advantage at the top that they had held for a good chunk of the campaign.

After yesterday’s win over Milan, Napoli coach Antonio Conte commented that “we were playing after Inter.”

“There was pressure on us. And we were up against a high-level opponent.”

“It was tricky,” admitted the Napoli and former Inter, Juventus, and Chelsea coach. “Losing today would have almost certainly meant giving them the Scudetto.”

“We have Inter in front of us, and they’re a winning machine,” said Conte.

“But after eight months of work – it would be crazy not to believe in it.”
