Tijjani Reijnders is in fantastic form. In November, the Dutchman cemented his growth, producing excellent displays and scoring some important goals. Now, he has deservedly been named as the Emirates MVP. He’d previously finished October with a brace against Club Brugge in the Champions League, thus making a decisive contribution to AC Milan’s first win in the competition this campaign. He then kicked off November with the winner in AC Milan’s victory over Monza at the Brianteo.
It was a month full of convincing and - at times - complete performances, where his ever-growing chemistry with Youssouf Fofana was on full display. Tijj has covered a lot of kilometres this season, both for AC Milan and the Netherlands, without losing his composure and elegance with the ball at his feet. After the Monza match, he took centre stage at the Bernabéu, shining in the middle of the park and finding the net from a Rafa assist.
In Cagliari, he returned the favour, setting up Rafa to score just before the international break - and what an assist it was! Upon returning, after the matches against Juventus and Slovan Bratislava, he found the net twice against Empoli, bringing his tally to six goals in all competitions this season (plus another two at international level). Four of these arrived in November, including three in the league - the same number he scored throughout the 2023/24 Serie A campaign.
He’s made great strides forward, with his quality and dynamism being a crucial part of the team’s play. In the voting on our website, Tijj (who was the MVP from AC Milan v Empoli) finished ahead of Chris Pulisic (MVP from September), Rafa Leão and Youssouf Fofana. Now, as the season intensifies further, and with the accumulation of fatigue, it will be even more important to see Reijnders at his best.
