The Lega Serie A have met today in order to set the kickoff dates and times for the final maatches of the season.

Coordinating this will be no mean feat.

The league will schedule all matches between direct rivals for a single objective concurrently. Therefore, teams will not play already knowing the results of their direct rivals.

Inter Milan and Napoli have taken the title race down to the wire. Just a point separate the two at the top, who face Como and Cagliari respectively on the final day.

Inter Milan want their and Napoli’s final matches bumped forward to Thursday.

The reason for this is that, should the Nerazzurri and the Partenopei finish level on points, they will play a head-to-head playoff to determine the winners of the title.

That remains a concrete possibility, if Inter draw with Como and Napoli lose to Cagliari.

If there is to be a playoff, Inter want to get it out of the way as soon as possible.

The Nerazzurri would want as much time as possible to rest and prepare for the Champions League final.

However, Napoli would prefer a Friday kickoff, to allow for weekend celebrations in the event of their probable title triumph.

Meanwhile, Italian broadcaster DAZN want a Friday kickoff rather than Thursday.

As of yet, the Gazzetta report, there is no agreement between the parities. Therefore, today’s meeting has temporarily come to a halt.
