The Sporting Director of Monza has confirmed that attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni will return to Inter Milan at the end of his loan.

Michele Franco spoke to TVPlay, via FCInterNews. He hinted that Carboni’s future is yet to be decided.

Argentine attacking midfielder Carboni has been at Monza on a season-long loan since the start of this campaign.

The 19-year-old has broken into the Brianzoli’s starting eleven over the second half of the campaign in particular.

That was not the case at the start of the season. The teenager had never played regular senior football, and needed time to make the step up.

But since Carboni started to feature regularly, the Argentine has really found his feet in Monza.

The Inter-owned attacking midfielder has scored two goals and made three assists so far for the Lombard team in Serie A.

Monza Sporting Director Confirms Valentin Carboni To Return To Inter At End Of Season

Carboni is only at Monza until the end of the season.

Inter sent the Argentine to their Lombard neighbours on a dry loan with no purchase option. They had no intention of losing control of Carboni’s future for good.

Rather, the aim was for Carboni to grow into the senior game with regular top flight football.

In that sense, the loan has gone according to plan.

But the question of Carboni’s future certainly remains an open one.

Inter are unlikely to bring Carboni back and reintegrate the young attacking midfielder into their first team for next season.

That means that the Nerazzurri could either sell the Argentine, or loan him out again.

And if Inter and Carboni opt for the latter, a return to Monza for another season would hardly be out of the question.

Monza’s Sporting Director Franco commented that “We have an excellent relationship with Inter.”

“And the young man has had a great season here with us,” the Brianzoli executive continued.

“He’s still only nineteen, and he’s had an excellent season. That’s certainly no mean feat.”

And as far as the prospect of Carboni coming back for a second loan to Monza next season, Franco said “We’ll see.”

“He’ll definitely return to Inter at the end of the season,” the Monza Sporting Director confirmed however.
