As previously reported, Nigerian striker Victor Orakpo has officially joined Montpellier on loan. The club has just confirmed the move.

Victor Orakpo is now officially a Montpellier player. Having made four appearances in Ligue 1 with OGC Nice, the Nigerian forward will spend this season on loan at MHSC in Ligue 2, where he’ll have a chance to gain valuable experience under the guidance of Papus Camara.

“Victor joins the dynasty of Nigerian strikers who have played for MHSC after Uche Agbo, Akor Adams, and of course the legendary John Utaka. We wish him the same success as our iconic double goalscorer in the title-winning match at Auxerre on May 20, 2012. Welcome, Victor, who will wear the number 14 shirt,” reads the club’s official statement.

A product of Bayern Munich’s youth system, Victor Orakpo is expected to get significant playing time at Montpellier.
