This season, AS Monaco, currently second in Ligue 1, are fighting to be the best of the rest. Paris Saint-Germain are destined to win the Ligue 1 title, their third in a row and they can be crowned champions as early as Wendesday, should results go their way.

“We have a big goal, we want to finish in second, this is our big objective,” said Monaco manager Adi Hütter, who can’t target any better this season. A win over Lille OSC will go a long way in ensuring that they achieve that objective, with Paulo Fonseca’s side arguably Les Monégasques’ biggest challenger.

However, in the medium to long-term, the Principality club are looking to run PSG closer. “[PSG] are the biggest team in France and of course, the goal is to reduce the gap to them. That will certainly be the objective next season,” said Hütter, in response to a question from Get French Football News.
