Prior to the opening of the transfer window, Maghnes Akliouche (23) was heavily touted to leave formative club AS Monaco. Whilst the France youth international has attracted interest from several elite-level sides, he remains at the Principality club with just one day to go until the start of the Ligue 1 season. Monaco’s CEO, Thiago Scuro, has stated that the intention for it to remain that way.
Currently, the most probable destinations for Akliouche are Inter Milan, a link revealed by L’Équipe, as well as Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester City, cited as suitors by Florian Plettenberg.
However, Monaco’s asking price remains €70m, which has put off some clubs from making more concrete approaches. And Monaco will only sell on their terms, given their desire for the player to stay. “He is confident and settled here in Monaco. No one in a rush. One more season beneficial for him too,” said Scuro in a press conference attended by Get French Football News. The Principality club’s CEO then clarified, “Our ambition is that he stays.” He added, however, that the door is still open for a departure between now and the closure of the transfer window, if a club meets Monaco’s asking price for Akliouche.
