Some relieving news has arrived from Milanello regarding the condition of Santiago Gimenez after his return from international duty.

Gimenez will return to Italy as a CONCACAF Nations League champion, following Mexico’s wins over Canada and Panama, though there had been some worries that he would also return as an injured player.

A video was published by TV Azteca Deportes in which Gimenez can be seen limping noticeably at the end of the final against Panama while he is heading for the dressing room.

However, any initial alarm was dampened by the fact that the Mexican medical staff did not officially communicate anything to Milan about physical problems for Gimenez, so it was likely just be a bit of tiredness or even cramp after another 90+ minutes.

According to MilanNews, there is no cause for concern about the condition of Gimenez’s ankle despite the rather worrying clip that has emerged, even if he did train alone today upon his return to the complex.

Indeed, the former Feyenoord man did individual work today at Milanello, while tomorrow he should be on the pitch with his team-mates for full training in view of Sunday evening’s match against Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Now, the focus is to get Gimenez firing again given that he has not scored for Milan since February 18 against his old club Feyenoord in the Champions League.
