MLS isn’t great about keeping their matchweek numbering consistent, so whether this is 27 or 28 is subject to some debate.

Not only is Lionel Messi’s goal tally impressive, he’s done it in fewer minutes than nearly every other player. He scores every 87 minutes on average. Inter Miami also have two games in hand due the Club World Cup break, so that’s even more opportunity for him to chase the Golden Boot award. It will be interesting to see if he starts taking penalty kicks to pump up that figure.
The variables: tackles, accurate pass %, clean sheets, penalties committed. Only defenders and midfielders are considered.

Kai Wagner was #1 in our previous article. Cristian Roldán moved up five places. Alhassan Yusuf of the Revs made a huge jump into 7th. He’s got an incredible pass accuracy and eight clean sheets as well.

There are fifteen other defenders who’ve scored twice. Back in Week 19, Markanich was one of them. He’s apparently been on a tear!

Looking at the top ten, only three goalkeepers represent clubs that are currently in playoff contention: Kahlina, Stuver and Celentano. I suppose that makes sense, as bad teams generate more activity for the keepers, and therefore higher stats.
