Southampton forward Paul Onuachu was full of praise for teammate Lesley Ugochukwu following the 3-2 defeat against Nottingham Forest.
Recently, Southampton striker Paul Onuachu reached his first milestone at the club. The 30-year-old has already been nominated for the Puskas award last year, but that's not the achievement here.
Instead, it's an even bigger joy for Onuachu in his two struggling years at Southampton. Against Nottingham Forest, the Nigeria striker got on the scoresheet for the first time as a Saint.
Credit to Onuachu, he has worked very hard in recent weeks to achieve this. Well, Onuachu isn't the only Southampton player who has enjoyed a great return to form following a nightmare start at the club.
The player we are talking about is prodigy Lesley Ugochukwu.
Despite having a slow start to life at St. Mary's, Ugochukwu has been gracing brilliance for Southampton recently. In fact, similar to Onuachu, the game against Nottingham was the best of his Saints career.
Coming in for an out-of-form Downes, Ugochukwu's arrival sparked life into the Saints midfield. In the 45 minutes he played, Ugochukwu with an assist, dribbles, and tackles, did his best to save the club's honor.
Deservingly, the 20-year-old received a lot of praise from his teammates, including Paul Onuachu.
As per the Daily Echo, speaking for his mesmerizing performance, Onuachu said: “I don’t know a word to describe him, he is a fantastic player. He was fantastic both defensively and driving with the ball."
Further, boss Ivan Juric must also be applauded for getting the best out of Ugochukwu. Even his parent club Chelsea will be happy watching his upward trajectory at Southampton in recent weeks.
And they want him to continue this way until the end of the season. A few days ago, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca confirmed that they won't cut short Ugochukwu's Southampton loan.
