Milan are not willing to increase their contract offer to Mike Maignan as negotiations start to stall, giving Bayern Munich an opening this summer.

The 28-year-old French goalkeeper, who was one of their most important players in their recent Scudetto winning season, has a little over two years left on his contract with the Rossoneri. Talks regarding a new deal have been ongoing for months now.

In the background, Bayern have been keeping a close eye on the situation, on the hunt for a new long-term goalkeeper to replace Manuel Neuer. This year, he’s also been linked with a move to Premier League giants Chelsea.

Maignan situation

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com details how Milan have offered Maignan a new contract worth around €4.5m net per season plus add-ons, a significant raise to his current €2.8m wages, but he’s still holding out for a higher salary.

The Rossoneri do not want to upset their wage structure, so are holding firm on their offer, causing talks to slow. Amidst Bayern’s interest, the club would accept an offer of around €70m for the 28-year-old, but for now the priority is still a new deal.
