Milan reopened their search for a new sporting director after the appointment of Fabio Paratici fell through in its final stages. In the end, the parties couldn’t agree on the exit clause should the official face more punishments. Moreover, the Rossoneri didn’t want to take chances with his present sporting suspension. It forbids him from handling routine tasks until July 20th. They even consulted FIGC president Gabriele Gravina about it. They deemed the risk of infractions too big, Corriere della Sera relays.

The side is prioritizing executives with previous Serie A experience, Calciomercato informs. They are keen on a few under contract with other clubs, like Atalanta’s Tony D’Amico, Napoli’s Giovanni Manna, and Bologna’s Giovanni Sartori. They’d have to open talks with their respective sides to poach them.

Moreover, Milan are looking for somebody who would work well in a team. They don’t want to change their MO too much. CEO Giorgio Furlani provided some hints to Sky before their last game.

“We belong to the Italian context with all their peculiarities: it’s something we will evaluate carefully. We haven’t had a traditional sporting director in the past two seasons, splitting those duties among various figures within the front office. We’re weighing hiring somebody who would concentrate and consolidate them. We’d still work as a group, with the only goal of having success on the pitch.”

Our Take on Milan and Paratici

The profile they outlined is starkly different from the former Juventus and Tottenham official, raising suspicions about why things really didn’t get across the finish line with him. Given their last couple of years, somebody who would impose himself upon the whole brass wouldn’t be a bad choice.
