Mikel Arteta has suggested Arsenal must improve the quality of the squad this summer if they are to keep challenging for the Premier League.
Arsenal still have the opportunity of achieving a memorable season by winning the Champions League, having beaten Real Madrid in the quarter-finals to set up a semi-final clash with PSG.
But Arteta already knows where the club must improve if they are to end their Premier League title drought next year.
“Squad quality, and availability,” he said.
“Without those two, you cannot compete in four competitions. At this level, especially in this country, impossible.
“The higher the quality, the higher the availability, the more chances and probability you have.
“After, you have to do it but the probability goes higher.”
Liverpool could win the Premier League title this weekend if Arsenal lose to Ipswich and Liverpool beat Leicester.
Even if it does not happen on Sunday, Arne Slot’s side need just two more wins from their remaining six games to guarantee the title.
Arsenal boss Arteta has previously pointed out the impact that injuries to key players and some questionable red card decisions have had on his team’s fortunes this campaign.
And the Spaniard says not being able to push Liverpool closer is representative of the problems they have faced.
Arteta explained: “Probably the question should be, if you told me in August that all these things are going to happen to your team, where do I see my team finishing? Probably that would be the right answer.
“There will be things we could have done if not we would have won every game regardless of any injuries, any situations, any refereeing decisions.
“But it is what it is. We’ll make an analysis of what we’ve done well and not that well at the end of the season.”
