Mijnans transfer deadlock: PSV must pay more than foreign clubs

Negotiations between PSV and AZ regarding the transfer of Sven Mijnans are currently at an impasse. PSV are willing to pay 10 million euros, but AZ want 14 million for their star midfielder. PSV are “currently assessing the situation” and appears to be considering other options, according to the Eindhovens Dagblad.

After signing Ruben van Bommel earlier in the window, PSV want to add yet another Alkmaar stalwart to their ranks. However, they’re going to have to reach further into their pocket if they want to lure Mijnans to the Philips Stadion.

Apparently, 14 million euros is too steep for PSV, and even worse for the Eindhoven club, it appears the Alkmaar side have put a domestic fee on their player. This means that if a foreign club offers the same current amount (10 million), AZ will reportedly sell as they’d much rather their man didn’t go to an Eredivisie rival.

While all this is going on, PSV are also on the lookout for further reinforcements after the departures of Johan Bakayoko (RB Leipzig) and Malik Tillman (Bayer Leverkusen). One potential option (out of the two) comes from the youth team with 18-year-old Joël van den Berg, who has performed well so far in pre-season.
