Michy Batshuayi cites Arthur Theate as one reason for joining Eintracht Frankfurt | OneFootball

Following his second full training session with the team after his blockbuster return to the Bundesliga on transfer deadline day, new Eintracht Frankfurt striker Michy Batshuayi spoke to journalists at a Thursday press conference.

It’s been a whirlwind past few days for the 31-year-old, who was 2,700 kilometers away in Turkey late Monday evening when news of the German club’s late pursuit reached him.

Upon arriving, Batshuayi recounted a “very stressful last few hours”. The 55-times-capped Belgian international was surely grateful for a recovery day on Tuesday. Two full training sessions would follow on Wednesday and Thursday. After his second day of work with the squad, it came time to face the cameras again. Batshuayi conveyed some interesting reasons for making his latest move.

“I have much to thank [fellow Belgian international and new SGE teammate] Arthur [Theate],” Batshuayi said. “He played an important role. We exchanged a lot of information about the team, the coach, and the way of doing things here. I’ve also known [club board-member-for-sport] Markus Krösche for several years.”

Batshuayi declared himself “comfortable and ready” to contribute to his new team, noting that he remained “happy to be flexible” tactically. In terms of his professional goals, Batshuayi kept his quotes clean by referencing his desire to “motivate the young players” and “entertain the fans“. The veteran still had a personal aim in mind.

“The hunger to return to the [Belgian] national team is there,” Batshuayi said. “That’s one of my clear personal goals in any case.“
