Foot Mercato understands that the race to secure the signature of RC Strasbourg Alsace midfielder Jessy Deminguet (26) remains open.

Deminguet joined Strasbourg last summer on a free transfer, following the expiry of his contract at SM Caen. However, one year and 22 appearances later, he is now set for a return to France’s second tier. L’Équipe reported on Sunday that the Frenchman was on the verge of joining local rivals FC Metz.

The publication reported that he was expected in Metz on Monday, ahead of the officialisation of his move to Les Grenats, recently relegated to Ligue 2. However, according to Foot Mercato, the deal is not done yet and another recently relegated side, FC Lorient, remain in the race and are preparing a last-minute offensive in order to secure Deminguet, whose contract with Les Alsaciens runs until 2027. Metz do, nonetheless, lead the race to sign the RCSA midfielder .
