Scott McTominay will be ready to roll as Napoli will face Empoli on Monday. The knocks he picked up versus Bologna won’t sideline him. He discussed his move to Azzurri and the Scudetto race in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I always wanted to try living abroad, learn a new language, and meet new players and coaches. I’ve loved every single minute of this adventure and wish to continue doing my best. I started hearing the rumours during the Euro. The attraction was immediate. When the opportunity emerged, I seriously considered it instantly. It had never happened to me before.” “I wanted to be sure it was the right decision for the present and the future. I learned a lot about their project, team, and manager. Director Giovanni Manna had a strong influence and helped me. He came to my house in Manchester. We had a very pleasant conversation. He explained to me the culture, the history of the club, and their marvelous stadium. Then, the passions of the fans, the myth of Diego Armando Maradona, and the food, which is incredible. And obviously, the possibility of winning important trophies that would make my career grow.”
McTominay believes Napoli can turn it up and overtake Inter.
“I fully believe in that. We have to think that we can win every game to reach the best possible position. We have worked hard to be where we are. Something spectacular can still happen. We must not panic and have to realize what we’re doing and forge ahead. We must not have regrets and hold our heads high. Antonio Conte brings the best out of everybody.”
