Burnley FC centre-back Maxime Estève (23) has signed a contract extension with the promoted Premier League side, according to L’Equipe. The former France U23 international was a man in demand after an impressive debut season with the Clarets on the back of his transfer from formative club Montpellier. Estève played a pivotal part in Burnley’s Premier League promotion charge. He played 46 Championship games last season and his side only conceded 16 goals.
The outlet adds that Burnley were adamant that Estève would not be for sale amid interest from a host of Premier League clubs the likes of Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur. Given the firmness of the Clarets to reject any approach for him, Estève eventually agreed to a contract extension, putting pen to paper over a contract set to expire in 2030.
