Viktor Gyokeres is rapidly emerging as one of the most in-demand forwards in Europe this summer, with Caught Offside reporting that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are all “keeping informed” on his status. High-level agent sources suggest it is “only a matter of time” before he leaves Sporting Lisbon.

While the Swedish international’s goal record in Portugal is remarkable — 97 goals in 102 games — there remains understandable caution from clubs in more competitive leagues. Still, with striker options limited and market prices inflating, Gyokeres represents a powerful, mobile No.9 profile that many clubs lack.
Caught Offside confirm that Sporting are holding firm on their €80 million valuation. With Gyokeres’ personal terms set to be significant, the full package could reach €130 million over a five-year deal. That figure may be a stumbling block, with one source suggesting, “It remains to be seen if the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd or anyone else will be ready to take that kind of gamble.”

The message from Lisbon is clear: they will not sell for less. Whether that forces clubs to act sooner or pivot to alternative targets remains to be seen, but there is no indication Sporting are softening their stance.
As Caught Offside note, “Gyokeres looks like he could be just what Arsenal are looking for up front.” Mikel Arteta’s side do not require a 40-goal-a-season striker, but a forward who can contribute 25 goals could elevate them.
Liverpool, still calibrating under a new coaching regime, also remain intrigued. “It surely wouldn’t take much for him to be an upgrade on the unconvincing Darwin Nunez,” the report adds. With Champions League football secured, they are in position to act if necessary.
Viktor Gyokeres is not just a proven goalscorer, he is someone who fits the Premier League mould, strong, aggressive and relentless in his work rate.
€130 million is no small number, but considering the current market and United’s desperate need for a reliable No.9, this is a move that makes sense. Rasmus Hojlund has promise, but he is still developing. United need someone who can deliver now, not in two years.
The fact that Arsenal and Liverpool are also circling only adds to the urgency. If United want to be taken seriously again, they must be prepared to act decisively and back the manager with elite-level firepower.
There will be risk involved, as there always is, but United have hesitated too often in recent windows. If Gyokeres is genuinely open to the move, the club should not wait for others to strike first. This could be the number nine who finally leads the line with authority at Old Trafford.
