It’s no secret Chelsea are in the market for a new striker and journalist Matt Law has provided an update on the current state of play.
The January window is into the final two weeks and as of yet the Blues haven’t been particularly busy, although things tend to gather pace as the window heads to a close.
The Blues have so far recalled both Trevoh Chalobah and Aaron Anselmino from their loan spells, whilst they have also agreed a €15m deal with Strasbourg for Mamadou Sarr, who will join in the summer.
Having reinforced defensively the Blues are also also in the market for a striker as they seek competition and an alternative option to Nicolas Jackson.
The 23-year-old has made a good start to the season, scoring nine league goals, but he’s failed to score in the last six, with Maresca backing the Senegal international to start finding the back of the net again.
It looks like Chelsea will need to move an attacker on to make space for a new one, and it’s been reported the Blues are now open to offers for Joao Felix, whilst they are said to have set Christopher Nkunku’s asking price at £65m amid interest from Bayern Munich.

A move for a striker this month seems unlikely although the Blues do hold interest in Liam Delap, whilst they are said to have joined the race for Benjamin Sesko.
Law has now provided an update on the striker hunt stating the Blues will move if they feel a deal is possible in January.
“I think people (at Chelsea) like Šeško, Delap,” he told The London is Blue Podcast.
“I don’t really see why Osimhen would have disappeared off it. CFC is tracking them for sure, particularly Šeško & Delap.

“If CFC believe deal is possible in Jan or if another club makes progress, Chelsea may move; otherwise it could be done in the summer.”
With the window entering the final stages anything is still possible but you feel if Chelsea are to qualify for the Champions League a striker needs to be signed.
