The season was then capped off by winning the Club World Cup with a brilliant performance against Paris Saint Germain on Sunday, showing how far Chelsea have come.

Chelsea expectations for next season

Winning the Club World Cup certainly exceeded many people’s expectations, and it will really give Chelsea something to build on, as well as continuing to build that winning mentality within the squad.

The squad have now lifted two trophies in the space of two months, and will be desperate to make sure that continues.

Maresca deserves huge credit for the job he’s done, given how difficult things were looking at the start of the year, and attention now turns to next season.

The Blues have strengthened their squad with the signings of Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro, whilst Estevao Willian and Dario Essugo have arrived, with Andrey Santos returning from Strasbourg.

They will once again be expected to improve, but John Terry doesn’t believe Chelsea are ready to win the league title.

Law has reported in The Telegraph that the expectation within the club is to start with a top four finish, while demonstrating progress.

Enzo Maresca not under immediate pressure to win the league

Chelsea last won a league title in 2017 and supporters would love to see another title triumph, although that’s likely still a few years away.

The Blues are certainly heading in the right direction, and Law has reported Maresca isn’t under immediate pressure to deliver the league title.

He adds there’s recognition that work needs to be done to catch up with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal.
