Reports from France claim that Milan are interested in signing Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta but the Premier League side’s €30 million price tag may discourage the Rossoneri.
According to what has been reported by French newspaper L’Equipe, via TMW, Mateta is aiming to make France’s squad for the 2026 World Cup and supposedly sees the need to step up to the next level above Palace.

The reports suggest that the Rossoneri have shortlisted Mateta as an option, alongside Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic and Monaco’s Breel Embolo.
A disappointing 2024-25 Serie A campaign for the Rossoneri saw them finish 8th place and miss out on qualification for European football in the upcoming season. Therefore, the club are working within a somewhat limited budget and the €30 million for Mateta may seem excessive if deals for Vlahovic or Embolo can be achieved for half of that price.

However, for Mateta it is clear he would not turn down such an opportunity as to play for one of Europe’s most historic clubs, especially if it helps him gain an advantage in his dream of playing at the World Cup.
