Eddie Howe's side make the long trip to the South coast to face the Saints, winless in their last 12 Premier League matches, and this will be the second time Barrott has officiated a fixture involving the Magpies this season.

Competing in his first season as a Select Group 1 official, Barrott took charge of Newcastle's Carabao Cup quarter-final win against Brentford last month and booked five players that evening, including Magpies trio Fabian Schär, Tino Livramento and Bruno Guimarães.

Officiating in the National League as of 2020 before working his way up through the EFL, Barrott was the man in the middle for Newcastle's 3-0 win against ten-man Fulham last season, sending off Cottagers striker Raúl Jiménez during the Premier League encounter in December 2023.
