Marseille are in talks to sign Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood.

According to David Ornstein, the two clubs are in talks over financial aspects of the deal.

Greenwood, 22, has reportedly had a positive dialogue with Marseille and is believed to favour the French club over other options.

A move to Marseille would see Greenwood potentially working under Roberto De Zerbi, the former Brighton & Hove Albion head coach, who is on course to take over at Stade Velodrome.

Previously, The Athletic reported strong interest in Greenwood from Lazio among several suitors.

United prefer a permanent sale for the forward, though a loan or a return to training with Erik ten Hag’s squad has not been ruled out.

Interest in Greenwood is high, with Juventus, Napoli, and clubs from Germany, Spain, and Portugal monitoring the situation.

Getafe, where Greenwood scored 10 goals in 36 appearances last season, would like to secure another loan spell for the striker.

United made Greenwood available for transfer after abandoning plans to reintegrate him into the first-team squad in August 2023.

This decision followed the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service discontinuing a case against him for attempted rape, assault, and coercive control due to key witnesses withdrawing cooperation.

Greenwood has consistently denied all allegations against him.
