Facundo Medina (26) will have to wait a bit longer for his Olympique de Marseille debut, after the Argentine centre-back joined the club this summer on loan with an option to buy from RC Lens.
The defender was not part of the squad that lost away to Stade Rennais on the opening day of the season due to a suspension, but it was thought that he would be involved in the upcoming fixture at home to Paris FC. However, L’Équipe reports that Medina picked up an injury yesterday during training that will prevent him from being involved. The defender reportedly suffered an ankle injury and left the training centre on crutches before being examined.
The French outlet also writes that Medina could be a doubt for his international side, having been preselected for the squad that will play in the September international break. It’s a situation which might mean Roberto De Zerbi will have to play Geoffrey Kondogbia (32) in the defence, which is what the manager did on the opening day of the season, using the midfielder as part of a back three.
