According to a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Olympique de Marseille have reached an agreement in principle with Inter Milan for Benjamin Pavard (29). The transfer will be structured around a loan with an option to buy the versatile defender for €15m.
The France international and 2018 World Cup winner started his career in his home country, coming up through the ranks at Lille OSC. During this window, he was linked with a return to his hometown club. However, L’Équipe revealed that his financial demands scuppered a move back to his “dream” club.
Marseille’s priority this summer has been to improve their defence, having already brought in CJ Egan-Riley on a free transfer from Burnley FC and Facundo Medina on loan from RC Lens but with an option to make the deal permanent, the club are also on the verge of securing Nayef Aguerd from West Ham United.
