Lille OSC striker Jonathan David (25) has no shortage of options this summer with his contract coming to an end with Les Dogues and no extension in sight for the Canadian international. The race to sign the the in-demand striker already includes six Premier League outfits, including Newcastle, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Chelsea, and Liverpool.According to RMC Sport journalist Florent Germain, Marseille are looking to target several free agents over the summer transfer window – which include the current Lille striker. With 24 goals in all competitions this season, the Canadian striker could be the ideal profile for Les Phocéens. But a move would be highly complex, let alone with heavy interest coming from the Premier League – and would be heavily dependant on OM’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League by the end of the season. “OM are looking at free agents (this summer),” said Germain on his Marseille podcast. “Jonathan David? I think that at the very least, OM has already or will try to sign him.”David is all but certain to leave Lille upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season, even if he is yet to publicly confirm his impending departure, opting instead to allude to faint hope of remaining with LOSC on several occasions. There is considerable competition for the Canadian’s signature. On the continent, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and Juventus are all in the race. Speaking recently on the It’s Called Soccer podcast, David revealed a preference to play in La Liga, whilst he has previously spoken about a dream of playing for Barcelona.GFFN | George Boxall
