Omar Marmoush scored a 94th-minute equaliser as Eintracht Frankfurt played out an exciting 3-3 draw with Bayern Munich at Deutsche Bank Park.

Kim Min-jae gave the visitors an early lead in the first half, but the Eagles turned the game on its head through goals from Marmoush and Hugo Ekitiké. Dayot Upamecano levelled for Bayern before the interval, and the visitors looked to be heading for a hard-earned three points after Michael Olise had put them back in front eight minutes into the second half. Marmoush had the final say, however, slamming home his eighth Bundesliga goal of the campaign deep into stoppage time to salvage a draw for Eintracht.

Tuta returns

The hosts made five changes to the side that beat Besiktas in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday. Tuta, restored to the team following the birth of his child, was joined in the starting XI by Ellyes Skhiri, Farès Chaibi, Ansgar Knauff and Hugo Ekitiké. Mo Dahoud, Junior Dina Ebimbe, Mario Götze, Niels Nkounkou and Igor Matanovic were all named on the bench.

Thrilling first half

Kauã Santos was by far the busier of the two goalkeepers in the early stages, saving Thomas Müller’s sweetly struck drive with ten minutes on the clock. Olise, who had dragged a shot wide in just the second minute, forced another fine stop out of the Brazilian with a curling effort not long afterwards, but there was nothing the Eagles stopper could do to prevent Kim from giving Bayern a 15th-minute lead from Müller’s cutback.

Dino Toppmöller’s side responded magnificently, though, Marmoush scoring his seventh league goal of the season from a superb Knauff pass. Eight minutes later, the Egyptian embarked on a solo run from inside his own half before teeing up Ekitiké, who beat Manuel Neuer at his near post to put the Eagles ahead for the first time in the match. The hosts had Bayern on the ropes, only to be pegged back by Vincent Kompany’s side seven minutes before half-time, when Upamecano drilled home a loose ball in the Eintracht box.

Marmoush salvages point

Bayern started the second half the way they began the first, retaking the lead eight minutes after the restart when Olise found the far corner with a curling finish. Kauã then made two saves in quick succession to prevent Joshua Kimmich from adding a fourth for the visitors, diving low to his right to keep out the midfielder’s free-kick before parrying another goal-bound effort from the Germany international.

Dina Ebimbe, on as a second-half substitute for Ekitiké, was centimetres away from getting on the end of Rasmus Kristensen’s low cross, but Eintracht salvaged a point deep into second-half stoppage time when Marmoush raced on to Dina Ebimbe’s perfectly weighted pass before firing past Neuer with a trademark finish. There was still time for Müller to strike the outside of the post from point-blank range, but there were no further twists in a pulsating contest at Deutsche Bank Park.
