Mark Lawrenson has been discussing Newcastle United.
The former Liverpool defender speaking ahead of the match at the King Power Stadium.
Newcastle United having played thirty nine matches in total (all competitions) so far this season.
Twenty four wins, five draws and ten defeats.
Now set to face Leicester City away from home on Monday night..
Mark Lawrenson speaking to Paddy Power ahead of Leicester v Newcastle:
“Newcastle are absolutely flying.
“I wondered if they might slip up and take their eye off the ball after the high of winning the Carabao Cup but it’s not played out like that.
“Eddie Howe is kicking them on and they’re looking good for Champions League next season.
“Prediction: Leicester 0 Newcastle 2”
A tough set of matches has seen Newcastle United win all three of their recent games. Massive wins away at West Ham and home to Brentford, when it comes to Champions League qualification hopes.
In between of course, outclassing and dominating Lawrenson’s beloved Liverpool at Wembley, when the scousers were so lucky to escape with a 2-1 loss, instead of the three or four goal winning margin Newcastle had deserved.
As Mark Lawrenson declares, Newcastle United are indeed ‘absolutely flying’ now.
Which makes it even more important that there are no daft slip ups, such as on Monday night.
Losing all of their last seven without scoring a goal and conceding eighteen, Leicester couldn’t be in worse form.
Whilst losing 14 of their last 15 PL matches, scoring four and conceding 36, these last four months have been shocking for Leicester.
Eddie Howe will be looking to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and get the first goal ASAP, give Leicester zero encouragement.
Leicester have conceded two or more goals in 14 of their last 16 Premier League matches, so the invitation is there for Newcastle to turn up and show what they can do.
