Manchester United have signed England U-23 goalkeeper Kayla Rendell from Southampton on a contract until 30 June 2027, with an option of an additional year.
Rendell has represented England at every youth level from U-16 to U-23 and in April 2024 received her first senior call-up, making the standby list for the Euro 2025 qualifiers.
Her senior club career had all been with the Saints to date, making over 130 appearances and even won Goal of the Season for an extra-time equaliser from a corner against Ipswich Town in the FA Cup.
Rendell told manutd.com: “It’s a dream to be signing for Manchester United and I can’t wait to join the group and get started.
“I want to thank Southampton for all the support and opportunities they have given me since joining as a nine-year-old girl. I will always cherish so many fantastic memories of my time there. Now I’m ready to take the next step in my career and play my part in pushing for success at United.”
Matt Johnson, interim head of women’s football, said: “Kayla is one of the most promising young goalkeepers in the women’s game and we have been tracking her progress with Southampton and England.
“She will add further strength to our pool of goalkeepers as we continue to build a talented, young squad with the potential to grow and develop together.”
