Benjamin Sesko, one of Europe’s most coveted young forwards, has chosen Manchester United over Newcastle United, setting the stage for a dramatic transfer conclusion. The 22-year-old RB Leipzig striker had both Premier League clubs vying for his signature in recent days, with offers submitted that turned the Bundesliga club’s head.
Newcastle put forward the stronger financial bid, totalling €90 million with €80 million up front and €10 million in achievable add-ons. Manchester United, by contrast, offered €85 million comprising €75 million plus €10 million in performance-related bonuses. However, United were strategic, making the first €5 million of their add-ons easily achievable, demonstrating intent and confidence in securing the deal.

Late on Tuesday night, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano hinted that Sesko was leaning towards Old Trafford. That suggestion was cemented by reporter Ben Jacobs, who revealed on X: “Understand Benjamin Sesko has made it clear this evening he wants to join Manchester United.”
Newcastle, refusing to go quietly, reportedly returned with an enhanced personal package for the Slovenian international, but it proved too late. The player’s mind was made up.
Manchester United still have one final box to tick, as a club-to-club agreement with RB Leipzig remains pending. While Newcastle’s bid was financially stronger, United’s structured approach and persuasive pitch appear to have sealed Sesko’s decision.
As of now, all signs point to Sesko wearing red in Manchester next season.
