United could turn their attentions to the former Everton striker to improve their attacking options

Manchester United appear to have suffered another blow in their pursuit of signing a striker this summer.

The Red Devils are looking to rebuild under Ruben Amorim after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign in which they finished a lowly 15th in the Premier League and lost in the Europa League final to Tottenham.

A recognised centre-forward is thought to be high on Amorim’s list of priorities in the event that Rasmus Hojlund departs amid reported interest from Inter Milan.

In terms of striker targets, United had been keen on Liam Delap earlier in the summer but the striker opted to join Chelsea in a £30m deal whilst Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Viktor Gyokeres.

Victor Osimhen is another name being heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, however, reports emerging from Italy claim the Nigeria international has informed Galatasaray of his desire to stay with the Turkish club.

The striker enjoyed a fine season on loan with Galatasaray, netting 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Corriere dello Sport state that Osimhen has rejected a big-money offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal and is set on staying with Galatasaray and all that remains is for the Süper Lig champions to activate the €75 million (£64 million) release clause in his Napoli contract.

With it looking like United are set to miss out on the 26-year-old, reports in England claim they will make a shock move to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Calvert-Lewin is available on a free transfer after leaving Everton last week and is said to be an option for Man Utd if they can balance the books by offloading Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony.

Man United have already finalised a £62.5m deal for Matheus Cunha and remain favourites to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
