Calciomercato has reported that Manchester United and Napoli are exploring a part-exchange deal involving Victor Osimhen, as the Red Devils are heavily interested in the Nigerian international. One of their forwards might go the other way to Napoli through this deal.
It is quite clear that Osimhen will not play a single match anymore for Napoli. The striker is currently playing for Galatasary but has still carried on his goal-scoring form. Osimhen has scored 16 goals in 20 matches so far in the Süper Lig 2024/2025 season. Overall, his goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.92. Moreover, Osimhen’s total G/A (goals + assists) is 20 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 1.15 per 90 minutes. His non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.70.
Looking into his passing aspect of the game, Osimhen passes the ball roughly 12.56 times during a game with a pass completion rate of 67.36%. He also plays 1.56 key passes each game. Overall, Osimhen’s xA (expected assists) output is 0.23 per 90 minutes.
United have been facing issues in the striker’s role given that Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have not been performing at their best for the club. So, the Red Devils are even ready to activate the release clause of the Nigerian. However, that could all change if they get down to a part-exchange deal.

Napoli also need a number nine, and they might be interested in one of the two United strikers. Most probably, it will be the Dane. However, all of the deal might be dependent on the valuation that Napoli keeps or decides for Osimhen.
Meanwhile, Osimhen is a powerhouse forward renowned for his athleticism and goal-scoring instinct. He dominates aerial duels with exceptional leaping ability, while his blistering pace allows him to outrun defenders on counterattacks. Osimhen’s physicality pairs with a relentless work rate, pressing opponents high up the pitch. His sharp movement in the box and clinical finishing—often with headers or instinctive strikes—make him a constant threat. Though not overly technical, his directness, strength, and knack for positioning elevate him as a classic No. 9, thriving in fast-paced, vertical systems. Therefore, he will definitely be a good and important signing for the Red Devils.
Though not in the best of form this season, Hojlund is strong in the air, using his frame to hold up play and win duels. His explosive pace and relentless pressing unsettle defenses, while his sharp movement in the box highlights his poacher’s instinct. Hojlund’s finishing is crisp, often with powerful shots, though he’s still refining his consistency. Capable of linking play with quick passes, he thrives in transitions, suiting high-tempo styles. His youthful energy, hunger, and raw potential mark him as a developing yet impactful talent. Now, it remains to be seen what happens finally in the deal.
