Just a point separates the two sides ahead of Thursday night’s clash

Manchester United can tonight against Rangers take a huge step towards sealing a Europa League last-16 spot.

Despite losing four of their last five home games, they have fared much better in Europe, beating both PAOK and Bodo/Glimt at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ so far.

Another victory would leave Ruben Amorim’s side on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stages, though they are facing a Rangers side who have the exact same target.

The Scottish side have already claimed a draw against Premier League opposition this season - a 1-1 draw at home to Tottenham on matchday six - and they too are well placed to book a place in the knockout stage.

Man Utd may have suffered a disappointing 3-1 home loss at the hands of Brighton last time out, but the one positive was no fresh injury concerns were reported.

Marcus Rashford is still at the club despite talk of an exit this month, but he may continue to be overlooked for a place in the matchday squad.

Victor Lindelof has returned to training but will not feature here, while all of Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans remain on the sidelines.

Mohamed Diomande is suspended for Rangers, while Tom Lawrence, John Souttar, Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Dujon Sterling are expected to miss out.

Rafael Fernandes is ineligible but Jack Butland is fit again and will push Liam Kelly for a starting berth.

Of the two teams, Rangers are in better form results-wise. They’re unbeaten in seven and this is probably their best chance to claim a result away at Man Utd.

With that said, the Red Devils have been a different prospect in the Europa League this season and supporters will demand a response after Sunday’s defeat. Expect goals in this one as the hosts edge it.
