Manchester United are set to step up their attempts to sign Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyökeres (26), according to a report from L’Équipe.

The Swedish forward wants his future quickly resolved, however, his suitors are taking their time in plotting their move, despite an attainable release clause. Manchester United could benefit from the hesitation of their competitors as they will look to step up their approach for Gyökeres, once they have disputed the UEFA Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur. In any case, the Red Devils are the only major European club to have made concrete steps towards getting a deal done, L’Équipe understands.

One club out of the race entirely, as per L’Équipe, is Paris Saint-Germain. The Champions League finalists were linked with the centre-forward in January, however, Luis Enrique is not interested in recruiting a No.9 this summer, especially not at the figure currently being touted for the Sporting player.
