Manchester United target Michael Olise has been at the centre of a rather strange blunder by the Crystal Palace social media department.

The player has enjoyed yet another highly impressive season which has only been dampened by niggling injury problems.

In 18 Premier League matches this season he has scored 10 goals and created five more. He was incredibly impressive recently in Palace’s 4-0 demolition of United at Selhurst Park, scoring a brace and toying with the visitor’s beleaguered defence.

In a season where United have desperately struggled for creativity outside of their usual source of inspiration, Bruno Fernandes, many think that Olise could be the perfect antidote to this problem.

It has reported over and over again that Manchester United are seriously interested in the French winger and that he is the only target INEOS have given the total green light to the club pursuing this summer.

The 22 year is also said to be keen on the move, as it has been reported that he was a boyhood United fan.

Nonetheless, the Old Trafford side will face stern competition as Chelsea, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are all said to be in the hunt for the player’s services.

The Villains in particular could be especially dangerous as they have already secured Champions League football for next year.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner reportedly wants to keep Olise at the club this summer but it is possible a gaffe from the social media department has already given away the London club’s true intentions.

The Daily Express report that “in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, ahead of their side’s clash with Aston Villa, the official Palace account posted a picture of Olise with the caption: ‘The last dance’.”

This expression is referring to the famous sports documentary about former basketball player Michael Jordan’s return to the NBA and is commonly used to refer to someone’s last appearance or effort to win in a sporting context.

“The post was swiftly deleted, leaving many Palace supporters questioning whether the sale of their No. 7 was firmly on the cards or if it was simply accidental that it was implied.”

With the Premier League season drawing to a close tomorrow and the English domestic one with the FA Cup final in seven days, the transfer rumours swirling around Olise will only grow in magnitude as we creep into June.
