Christian Eriksen didn’t attract significant attention during the summer transfer window, despite willingness on Manchester United’s part to do a deal ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The experienced Denmark international has gone on to make eight appearances, which is more than most imagined at this point of the season.

While Eriksen’s first season was a success on an individual note after joining United in 2022 on a free transfer, the 32-year-old made little to no impact in the follow-up campaign. His form has since improved with three goals and as many assists to his name.

That won’t stop reports from doing the rounds about Eriksen’s future since he is out of contract at the end of the season. Unsurprisingly, none of these clubs were willing to put their money where their mouth was in the summer; they decided to wait in an attempt to sign the midfield star on a Bosman.

According to talkSPORT, Eriksen is attracting interest from former club Ajax, amid widespread links during the summer.

As well as generating interest from Ajax, where Eriksen enjoyed a five-year stint after emerging through their world-renowned academy, it is suggested that the United star is also ‘courting attention’ from clubs in the MLS and the Saudi Pro League.

Being the model professional Eriksen is, we have faith that he’ll do his utmost in a United shirt until the day his contract ends, but it’s also important to take note of the fact he did not push to leave Old Trafford in the summer.

Speaking to Voetball International during the summer, Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots provided clarity on Eriksen’s situation.

“There were options in the Arab world, Turkey and the MLS, but those were ruled out in advance because Chris and his family want to stay in Western Europe.”

With that in mind, we can assume that Ajax will be leading the race for Eriksen’s signature next summer.
