Manchester United are reportedly ready to make a formal offer for Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres amid serious competition from Arsenal.

Gyokeres’ future in Lisbon has been the subject of intense speculation after it emerged that his relationship with the Sporting hierarchy has become untenable.

The Sweden international has allegedly informed the Portuguese giants that he will not play for them again as his camp believes Sporting are going back on their word over a transfer fee.

Arsenal and United have been reported to be the most attentive to the situation, as they look to win the race for one of Europe’s most prolific strikers, who scored more than 50 goals this season.

According to Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol (via Sport Witness), Arsenal have made an offer for the 27-year-old. It is claimed the North Londoners are ready to pay a fixed fee below €60m, with bonuses on top.

However, Sporting are not expected to accept Arsenal’s bid as they remain adamant to fetch around €80m for their star striker.

Earlier today, The Peoples Person covered a report suggesting United are considering making an offer for Gyokeres. Now, Mais Fuebol have given more details about the Red Devils’ plans.

It is claimed United are “ready to make an official offer of €60m fixed, with another €10m for objectives.”

The Mancunians are willing to pay more than Arsenal to reunite Gyokeres with Ruben Amorim but that figure is also not enough for Sporting.

It remains unclear if United will come up with an improved offer to satisfy Sporting’s demands.

However, Ineos may have to act swiftly as Arsenal are expected to continue negotiations for the Swede.

Mikel Arteta’s side are also in the position to offer Champions League football to Gyokeres so finding an agreement over personal terms might also prove to be tricky for United.
