In the last few days, FC Barcelona have been closely linked with the RCD Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia to strengthen their options between the sticks for the next season.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen has only recently returned from a long-term injury, and it remains to be seen how this injury will impact his future performances. Similarly, Wojciech Szczesny has not yet accepted the renewal offer presented to him by the Blaugranes, even though recent reports indicate he would do so in the coming few days.

Inaki Pena is also set to leave the Catalan side after having gone down in Hansi Flick’s pecking order for this position since Szczesny became the starter at the start of this year.

Thus, the links with Joan Garcia are exciting the Barcelona fans quite a lot as he was one of the breakthrough stars in La Liga last season, and at 24 years of age, has the potential to remain a starter for years to come. In fact, latest reports indicate the Catalans have already made an offer for him.

Manchester United looking to make a late swoop

However, the Blaugranes are not the only ones pursuing the player, as CaughtOffside reports that Manchester United are also not giving up on him, and are hoping to hold talks with him in the coming few days to convince him to make a move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are keen on such a move as Andre Onana has left a lot to be desired with his performances in goal, and his future at the Premier League side is highly uncertain at the moment.

Although Barcelona still remain the favorites to sign him, there has still not been a conclusive green light from the player for such a move, and United are looking to swoop in. Meanwhile, Arsenal are also reported to be long-term admirers of the Spanish goalkeeper, even though a move to the Emirates seems unlikely at the moment.

Similarly, Manchester City and Newcastle United are also keeping an eye on him, and it remains to be seen where he will be playing next season.
