Manchester United have been given the chance to sign Chelsea star Ben Chilwell.

There is no real way to describe Chelsea’s business other than madness. They doesn’t appear to be a real strategy other than to sacrifice homegrown talent for an endless list of players they don’t need.

Chelsea will likely do the same next year and not allow any of these players to gel and form a team correctly. I suspect the same will happen with managers, and it’s currently Enzo Maresca’s job to bottle.

According to talkSPORT, United have been offered the chance to sign Chilwell, with Chelsea knowing all too well that we are light in the left-back department. Both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are still out injured, with left-back having been a problem position for long stretches of the past season.

Maresca has informed Chilwell that he is not part of his plans as he seeks to cut down a bloated squad.

As a result, Chilwell is assessing his options and Chelsea will not stand in the way if he wants to part ways for pastures new.

Chilwell’s injury record should be a concern to United. We don’t need another Shaw in the sense of a very good full-back who is often injured.

It may seem convenient and things change in the market, but The Athletic reported this week that United were not going to sign a new left-back this summer.

Hence why I don’t think United will act on Chilwell’s availability in the market.
