Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
Ruben Amorim is planning a busy transfer window after a difficult start to life at Old Trafford. The Red Devils are 14th in the Premier League.
Cunha has been identified as a key target to improve United’s attack. The club are preparing for possible exits, with Marcus Rashford and Antony both out on loan.
Rashford is currently with Aston Villa, while Antony is playing for La Liga club Real Betis. Both players could be allowed to leave permanently.
Cunha has also attracted interest from other clubs, including Arsenal, but Man United are leading the race.
The 25-year-old has impressed for Wolves this season. He has bagged 16 goals and four assists in all competitions.
Cunha has played in the Bundesliga and La Liga, which has shaped his game and given him extensive experience.
He has adapted quickly to the pace and demands of the Premier League, making him a safe signing for United.
Amorim wants forwards who can press, switch roles easily and link up well in transitions. Cunha ticks all those boxes.
He has played as a central striker, false nine out wide for Wolves. His ability to fit into different systems is a big plus.
He is tactically aware and responds well to coaching instructions, which Amorim is keen on as he builds a new-look attack.
United need more players who can break down stubborn defences. Cunha’s skill, movement and creativity would be very useful in such matches.
Man United would acquire a top-quality player if they land the Brazilian this summer.
