Manchester United continue to target Premier League proven players ahead of the new season.

Ruben Amorim has already confirmed that Premier League experience was a factor in United’s moves for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Before securing Benjamin Sesko’s signature from RB Leipzig, United explored the possibility of signing Aston Villa talisman Ollie Watkins. However, the Birmingham outfit showed little desire to part ways with the English striker, forcing the Red Devils to look elsewhere.

In recent days, Brighton & Hove Albion star Carlos Baleba has emerged as United’s dream midfield target on the back of a phenomenal campaign in England’s top flight. Now, a report suggests the Mancunians are eyeing a move for a Premier League defender.

Manchester United make move for Marc Guehi

According to FootballTransfers, United have made an “official approach” for Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi.

So far, Guehi has been strongly chased by Liverpool. However, United are prepared to rival the Merseyside giants for the England international’s services.

The 25-year-old, known for his impeccable composure and positional awareness, has just one year remaining on his current contract at Selhurst Park.

United are eager to take advantage of the situation and “finalise a deal” for Guehi amid their pursuit of a new central defender.

However, the report underlines the club’s initial approach was “exploratory at this stage.” Figures at Old Trafford believe the Palace star could “walk straight into the starting XI” under Amorim.

Manchester United interested in Bayern Munich star

FootballTransfers add that United are also keeping an eye on Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano.

The Frenchman is reportedly viewed as Guehi’s alternative. Akin to the Englishman, Upamecano is set to be out of contract in Munich next summer.

After transforming their attack, United are now trying to address other areas of the pitch. However, a new centre-back seems to be the least of their worries, considering how well youngsters Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven have performed in the last six months.
